You never stop learning: Zinedine Zidane, the man famous for the least graceful exit in the history of the game, has today had one of the great mic drops.

Zizou called a surprise press conference today to announce that, after winning three straight European Cups along with a Spanish title, he's off.

After a deeply indifferent league campaign this year, which ended with a third-place finish just the 17 points off behind Barcelona, Zidane was reportedly close to the sack, only to be saved by another miracle run in the Champions League.

He resigns having had more European Cup wins than full seasons as a manager, and without a single European knockout defeat.

Zidane told the assembled media that "This is the right moment for everyone, it might seem a bit strange, but it had to be done for the good of everyone, the players, the club, and myself. This team must keep winning, and it needs a change after three years, another voice, another method of working".

Reports that he headbutted Florentino Perez on his way out the door are, as of yet, unconfirmed...
