This morning, the Sunday Times revealed that a British-trained doctor is claiming to have supplied over 150 high-level athletes with banned substances.
The world of British sport is in uproar, and a number of Premier League clubs have been implicated in the various allegations. Yeah, if you were out on the razz last night, shit has gone down in a major way.
But with more details emerging about the man at the centre of the investigation, Dr. Mark Bonar (including the fact that he was born in Dublin and graduated from UCD - but don't tell anyone that), we took the liberty of Googling him.
Apparently only two former patients were willing to leave Google reviews - both written two months ago, incidentally - and frankly, they're rather fitting of the shit-storm he finds himself in now.
Firstly, Leah Kim says:
I have been a loyal patient of this delightful doctor for the previous 6 years and really cannot say enough good things about him. He is very professional, caring and patient centred. He always makes time for his patients and I never feel rushed. His knowledge of hormonal and anti-aging therapies is impressive and I have yet to meet another UK doctor with the same level of knowledge in these subjects. . He successfully diagnosed and treated me for a rare metabolic disorder when my NHS GP told me that there was nothing wrong with me. I have never felt better since and it is all thanks to this wonderful doctor!
Kim gives Dr. Bonar five stars, but where sport is concerned, it's probably fair to say none of that sounds great. And things really doesn't pick up in Samantha Dawn's more abrupt review of her experience with the Harley Street doctor:
My feelings were this individual was nervous and seemed uneasy overall a very unprofessional experience,
she says. Maybe he was just having a bad day, eh?
