With the attacking options Didier Deschamps has at his disposal, it was no surprise France were being tipped as one of the pre-tournament favourites for this year's Euros.
But bizarrely, France have become the first team in Euros history to reach a quarter-final without scoring from open play, they have benefited from two own goals and one Kylian Mbappé penalty.
Former French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye is far from shy in pointing out their attacking struggles ahead of their quarter-final clash with Portugal.
Speaking to Ladbrokes' '1-2-Free', Cabaye said
Unfortunately, I can't mention any of the offensive players when it comes to standout players, because we haven't been good enough going forward. I can only hope we improve in that area on Friday night.
The injury to star man Kylian Mbappe in their victory over Austria in the opening round seems to be having a negative effect on the newly recruited Real Madrid man. He suffered a broken nose after colliding with the shoulder of Austrian defender Kevin Danso.

French attacking options
Serie A winner Marcus Thuram has started three of France's four matches and has yet to score his first tournament goal for Les Bleus despite hitting the net 13 times for Inter Milan this season.
Ousmane Dembele has also started three matches but has yet to threaten getting on the scoresheet and is better known for providing assists.
Antoine Greizmann has played behind the two strikers but has been unable to find the range on his attempts at incisive passes and seems to be also lacking sharpness.
What turned out to be an inspired sub by Deschamps, PSG's Randal Kolo Muani was introduced in the 2nd half of their last 16 tie with Belgium and created the goal that put the French through to the quarter-final.
However, Cabaye was full of praise for fellow midfielder N'Golo Kante
I would say he has been the standout player in a France shirt, up to this point. You know, he's spent the whole season playing in Saudi Arabia and I think a lot of people were surprised that he was called up for this tournament. But, clearly, the manager knew what he was doing with that decision, and you can see on the pitch that he's one of the fittest players, and he's so important for the balance of this team.
France and Portugal are set to meet for the third European Championship in a row, there will have to be a drastic improvement on the attacking front if France are to progress to another semi-final.
