Naturally, the Daily Mail aren't always revered for their accuracy in such matters but they have an eye-catching rumour this morning about a much loved Irish baller.
Seamus Coleman's future is the subject of speculation every time the prospect of an open transfer window arrives on the horizon.
Manchester United are the club most frequently touted but this morning it's the Premier League champions whose name is in the frame.
The paper state rather authoritatively that Jose Mourinho is planning a €27 million bid for the full-back. Not traditionally a club to which Irish players have flocked, Paddy Mulligan and Damien Duff are the two most high profile Irish born players to have played for the club.
If true, it would be a bold move for Coleman. He would face a tall order trying to dislodge Branislaw Ivanovic from the right back position.
It's pleasing to see he's worthy of such speculation, no matter how solid or flimsy it is.
