Manchester City fans will have been utterly perplexed by Yaya Toure's performance in the Champions League semi-final at the Bernabeu, as he trotted around the pitch like the kid who was picked last at P.E. because he didn't want to be there.
The clip of his stunning laziness dominated social media, as did the stats which really showed how little of a shite he gave:
Yaya stats from last night
83% pass acc.
0 shots
0 chances created
0 tackles won
0 interceptions
0 birthday cakes— Balls.ie (@ballsdotie) May 5, 2016
So the last thing that City fans will have wanted to see is Yaya in the papers talking a load of nonsense again..
Well, bad news for them as a really stupid quote has done the rounds that will do nothing other than make Toure's standing with the fans even worse, as he
When I was at Barcelona and initially approached by Manchester City I thought it was Manchester United that wanted me.
My agent had to tell me it was the team in the blue shirts.
At the time Manchester United were putting Manchester City in the shadows. It was unbelievable. Manchester United is a big club and I respect that club a lot.
What are you doing? Why would you say that? In what world is that a sensible thing to say?
It appears that he was trying to raise that point to show how much the club has grown, but instead he has pretty much taken the piss out of the club he plays for and said he has a great respect for their arch rivals.
Honestly, how can you allow that to come out of your mouth?
We've heard moody Yaya in the press before, complaining about a lack of birthday wishes and throwing a strop, but this looks like it could be one of the last interviews the big Ivorian gives as a City player, and should he leave the club this summer he will be remembered not for his elite midfield play which drove the club to more than one Premier League title, but rather his lazy attitude and total apathy towards playing for Manchester City.
And that's a shame, because he was a fantastic player for the majority of his time in England, he's just really, really bad when it comes to PR. And hiding the fact that he doesn't want to play for City anymore.
