Xherdan Shaqiri has got his Liverpool career off to an impressive start, scoring a sensational bicycle kick in Liverpool's 4-1 friendly win over Man United in the International Champions Cup.
The Swiss international was in the middle of the box when Ben Woodburn lofted in a cross. Shaqiri stepped out under pressure from Ro-Shaun Williams and acrobatically slammed the ball beyond Joel Castro Pereira:
Liverpool would take the lead again through Daniel Sturridge, who slotted home after being teed up by Shaqiri:
Sheyi Ojo then stepped up to give Liverpool a two goal cushion from the penalty spot after Andrew Robertson was tripped in the box:
After the game Jose Mourinho downplayed the importance of the result, highlighting the many youngsters United had on the field, and bemoaned the fact that some of his senior players aren't available owing to their extended stay at the World Cup:
The majority of the players that played, are not going to play. Some of them are not even going to belong to the squad. Accumulation of matches has progressively been killing my brave boys, because I have some brave boys.
I just hope the boys on deserved holidays, they take care of themselves a little bit and I hope somebody wants to do what [Marcus] Rashford and [Phil] Jones decide to do, which is to be back a little bit earlier to try and help the team because for the beginning of the season we are going to be in trouble.
