Yesterday we brought you the news that Bayern Munich legend Stefan Effenberg had ripped into Xherdan Shaqiri for his decision to join Stoke when he had an offer to return to the Bundesliga with Schalke.
Effenberg questioned Shaqiri's goals as a footballer and claimed that football was in a sad state of affairs if players are making these decisions based purely on the money they will earn.
Well, now The Powercube has had his say, and while he's adament that money was not the reason behind his move to Stoke, he's taken a pop at Effenberg and he's hit him right in the employment.
He has no job at the moment, so he can talk, he’s a free man.
Anybody can talk who is free. But I don’t want to comment on this.
I will concentrate on my job, I’m happy to be here and I can’t wait to play. This is my job. It isn’t my job to comment on what people say.
Seconds out.
Let's see if the fiery German has a rebuttal to this one, and in the meantime we'll wait and see if Shaqiri makes his debut as Stoke travel to White Heart Lane looking to pick themselves up from a late defeat to Liverpool.
