Barcelona legend Xavi departed his boyhood club FC Barcelona this weekend after 17 storied seasons in the first-team, and the accumulation of a museum's worth of medals and trophies.
The diminutive midfield maestro is widely regarded as one of the best players ever to play for Spain, and he leaves behind him a career that any aspiring footballer could barely dream of, but his humility makes him a player that nobody really has a bad word to say about.
In an interview with El Pais, Xavi exhibited this humility with a fantastic answer when he was asked about current Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal:
Van Gaal taught me a lot. He told me "You are better than Zidane". I replied: "Thanks coach, but don't exaggerate."
Outstanding.
