Yesterday we brought you a snippet from a Xavi interview in which he took a pop at Jose Mourinho. Well today, Marca carry other quotes from the midfielder in which he disputes the fact that Bayern Munich controlled the game against them in their Champions League semi-final

“We enjoyed the bulk of the possession against Bayern, they couldn't control the game. To look only at the result doesn't really tell the whole story."

Now the football purity of Barcelona is well documented and has been fawned over for long enough and Xavi is trying to make a deeper point about football here that goes beyond our comprehension and as ever the stats back him up. For example in the first leg in Munich Barcelona had 66% possession compared to Bayern 34%. A figure that nearly repeats itself in the return leg in which it reads 60-40 in favor of Barca.

Where Xavi's argument falls down is after extensive research here at Balls we uncovered that Bayern had 700% of the goals scored across the two legs.
