Despite being in the fifth tier of English football, Wrexham seem to be among the most popular clubs around at the moment.
The reasons for that are obvious. The club were bought by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in November 2020, immediately adding an extra layer of intrigue as to how they would fare in their quest for promotion to the Football League.
Their popularity would then skyrocket with the release of Welcome to Wrexham, the Disney+ documentary that charted their fortunes under their new high profile ownership.
It was a great watch, with the club doing very well to capitalise on their new found exposure over the last couple of years.
The latest milestone in their journey came last weekend, when they drew 3-3 with Championship club Sheffield United in the FA Cup. They came within minutes of winning the tie, although a late goal from John Egan forced a replay. Ryan Reynolds found the whole thing too much to bare.
Wrexham's Hollywood owners announce signing of Irish defender
Both Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have done their best to get involved with the club on a day to day basis, despite being based on the other side of the Atlantic.
That includes releasing videos on social media related to various club matters, such as the announcement of new signings.
Wrexham are set to sign Irish defender Eoghan O'Connell before the end of deadline day, with the owners hinting at the signing ahead of time.
McElhenney would release a video where he was attempting to teach Reynolds how to pronounce the name 'Eoghan', saying that 'Irish names are not that difficult'.
It's pretty funny.

Cork native Eoghan O'Connell had been at League One side Charlton Athletic, having only joined the club last summer. He had played in the majority of their league games this season, but is clearly attracted by the project on offer at Wrexham.
He has previously played for the likes of Celtic, Cork City, Bury, and Rochdale.
The 27-year old will join a club that is sitting second in the National League, three points behind leaders Notts County with two games in hand. They look well placed to make a return to the Football League for the first time since 2008 and would likely push on from that point considering the investment the owners have been willing to make in the club.
Who knows, he might even get a trip to Hollywood out of it?
