With the World Cup upon us, we turn to perhaps the most important participant in this summer's showpiece in Russia: the World Cup ball. The Adidas Telstar is the name given to the ball that will be used come June and is a modern interpretation of the 1970 Telstar: World Cup ball 2018
World Cup ball 2018 - Adidas Telstar
The Telstar has recently drawn the ire of national goalkeepers such as David De Gea, Pepe Reina as well as Barcelona's Marc-André Ter-Stegen who has openly criticised Adidas' design:
The ball could be better; it moves a lot.
But I think we're just going to have to get used to working with it, and try to get to grips with it as quickly as possible before the World Cup starts.
We've got no other option.
FormerReina was also negative in his assessment of the Telstar:
I bet you as much as you like that we'll see at least 35 goals from long range in Russia, because it's impossible to work out.
It's covered in a plastic film that makes it difficult to hold on to. Goalkeepers are going to have a lot of problems with this ball.
