Wigan Athletic have officially announced the signing of Ireland winger James McClean from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.
Having been banned from using Twitter by Sunderland last season, he's since been back online and tweeted about the move last night.
Delighted to announce a signed with wigan! Excited and looking forward to the new challenge ahead :) #WAFC

While it means taking a step down to playing Championship football, McClean may have the opportunity to play against Manchester United in the Community Shield on Sunday, as well as experience European football in the Europa League. After breaking through at Sunderland in late 2011, the 24-year-old experienced a difficult second season, as Sunderland battled relegation. So hopefully the move will do him some good.
