We took to the streets of Dublin today ahead of Ireland's crucial Euro 2016 qualifier against Germany.

We were testing German fans on their knowledge of the current Irish set-up to try and see how are boys are ranked on the global stage.

Germany's squad is littered with household names such as Reus, Muller,Ozil and Neur to name but a few, but are the Germans aware of the likes of Cyrus Christie, Glenn Whelan and John O'Shea?

We were curios to see how well known our squad is known outside these shores so we put it to the travelling fans. The results were quite surprising as not one group of fans knew more than two players, and most of them struggled with the names.

One struggling fan was quick to dismiss our suggestions of Jon O'Shea and Cyrus Christie but seemed to agree that Michael Bradley was involved in the Irish setup when we threw him a curveball. Another mentioned someone called McGiven, but he may have been looking for the nearest McDonalds.

Any names we were able to get were usually referring to  players who have retired or are in the twilight of their career which suggests our global football reputation has somewhat dwindled in recent years.
