If you're watching the team that didn't come home with Football on Sky Sports this evening, you will notice something strange will have happened to your screen at the start of the game. So if you are wondering why England and Switzerland is in black and white, read on for the explanation...
Why is England and Switzerland in black and white?
To mark the 25th anniversary of the anti-racism group Kick it Out, Sky Sports are broadcasting the first 25 seconds of England v Switzerland from the King Power Stadium in Leicester in black and white. It is scheduled to happen as the English and Swiss players emerge from the tunnel.
It will be the first time England will be broadcast solely in monochrome for almost 50 years.
The entire game is dedicated to Kick It Out, and England players will show their support for the organisation by warming up in branded t-shirts and entering the pitch alongside eight mascots nominated by Kick it Out.
Chairperson of Kick it Out, Lord Herman Ouseley had the following to say:
We at Kick It Out are delighted with this gesture in recognition of our work to make football a better sport for all across the last 25 years.
We hope the footage will be a powerful reminder of how far football has come in the last 25 years to make the game a more open and diverse place - welcoming to all regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation.
