We are in debt to the extensive calendar knowledge of boxing hack Kevin Byrne of the Evening Herald the Sun who informed the world today of a beautiful coincidence linking the two most famous championship belt wins by Irish fighters in recent memory.

Cast your mind back to last December when Andy Lee shocked Matt Korobov to win the WBO middleweight championship. No one saw it coming but Lee's took Korobov's belt with a stunning knockout.

The fight happened on December 13, 2014 in Las Vegas.

Flash forward to 2015. Conor McGregor vs Jose Aldo. The knockout to end all knockouts. McGregor finally becoming the UFC featherweight champion. A date that will remain memorable for all time.
