Stephen Ireland or Daddyd1ck as he was known on Bebo is going down the same route as the once popular social networking site.

Last season despite his problems with the Irish national team he blossomed as an attacking midfielder in Mark Hughes' Man City side and things looked great for the granny loving Corkonian. Today he sits in his pink wheeled jeep somewhere scratching his head, the season when Man city were going to challenge for the title has seen Steo become best friends with the bench.

He publicly questioned Mark Hughes after he left saying

“I was being played out of position,” Ireland said. “Maybe as a holding midfielder, left wing, right wing. It is not me. You have to adjust and think, ‘I have to do it’, but if you want the best out of me, you have to play me in my best position. Then I can be myself because the chains are off. But the last six months under Mark Hughes was very frustrating for me.”

Since then Hughes' replacement Roberto Mancini has decided to take Steo out of position totally and after Ireland had yet another word to the press about his future the scarf loving Italian stepped in

"I spoke to Stephen two weeks ago but we must speak again soon," said Mancini, who flew today to Abu Dhabi for his end-of-season debrief with the City chairman, Khaldoon al-Mubarak. "I don't know what he is thinking about his future but, for me, Stephen is a fantastic player and if he can change his head I think he can start to play like last season [2008-09] again."

Mancini needs to take a step back and realise that Stephen was wise beyond his years as this video shows

The boy rags his cars, loves chips, corn on the cob and Jim Carey - maybe its you, Mancini who needs to change your head
