Once more unto the breach, dear friends. Thankfully, it's for the final time this year. 2018 has been a wretched, meaningless year for the Irish team, and they will end it as they ended the previous year: with a game against Denmark. If you are not going to Aarhus, then read on for details of where to watch Ireland vs Denmark......again.
Where to watch Ireland vs Denmark?
This being the Nations League, the game is live on Sky Sports Main Event on Monday evening from 7.30pm. It kicks off at 7.45pm. Yeah, we can't believe they've given it top billing, either.
If you want to catch highlights on terrestrial television: they'll pop up on Virgin Media later that evening.
What's at stake?
It all hinges on Denmark's result in their penultimate Nations League game with Wales. If they either won or drew that game, then this game is a dead rubber: Ireland have been relegated to League C and, most pertinently, will be third seeds for the Euro 2020 qualifying draw.
If Denmark lost in Wales, however, then there is something to play for. In this scenario, Ireland will have an improbable route to rescue, and will avoid relegation if they beat Denmark. So, y'know, hope springs eternal...
What's the Irish team likely to be? Will we see O'Bafemi?
Having now committed, the teenager will travel with the Irish squad so we might see him in action. Judging by O'Neill's comments after the draw with Northern Ireland, we likely won't see him being thrown into the fray.
James McClean won't play: he is suspended, while Seani Maguire, John Egan and Alan Browne are out through injury. Here is the full Irish squad making the journey to Denmark:
Republic of Ireland Squad
