Balls.ie is a sports website, but since we are so often writing about passion, it can also be considered a love website. I'm here to write about the intersection between sport and love.
I was reading today about Recoba's testimonial when I made a strange discovery. Carlos Valderrama and his wife Elvira Redondo have the exact same hair - that very distinct, taut, hyper curly hair most often associated with the body's nether regions. This was a staggering discovery, as Valderrama has one of the ten most memorable hairstyles on planet earth.

El Pibe's instagram is more or less a tribute to their hair symmetry. Here they are with a selfie stick.
In period dress.
With the Pope.

Even when they tie their hair back, they do it together.
Mindblowingly bonkers isn't it? Valderrama, presumably could have married any woman in Colombia, any woman in South America, any woman on earth. And yet the woman he falls for has the exact same hairstyle that he has. The thing that makes him so unique both during his career and retirement, he has found in another person. It was hard not to link Valderrama's hair with his genius during his playing days. If Valderrama ever balds, he will see himself in his wife.
Yes there are differences in colour, but when I look at the above photographs, I believe that Valderrama and Redondo maintain their hairstyles in sequence, as a sort of expression of their shared passion for each other.
Most of all, it tells me that when we are looking for lovers or soulmates, we are looking for a version of ourselves.
