Brighton went top of the Championship last night with a 3-2 victory at Ewood Park.
Big Ireland defender Shane Duffy - described by many experts during our Euros campaign as The Messi Of The Air - struck first for the Albion against his former club, and you better believe he was having none of that 'muted celebration' shite, particularly having suffered nothing but abuse on Twitter at the hands of Rovers fans since his move in August.
The 24-year-old Derry man powered a header home from a corner before wheeling away in typical celebration:
Blackburn fans felt aggrieved when Duffy departed for a club with an eye on promotion to the Premier League this season, and they joined general football fans and journalists alike in pointing out an updated version of one particularly ugly stat which Duffy has become associated with all season:
Should have but $100 on Shane Duffy grabbing a goal against Blackburn! Hope he does us a favour with an own goal or two! #Rovers

This could my last ever tweet. If Shane Duffy scores an own goal tonight I will most probably die from laughter. #rovers

Low and behold...
Shane Duffy has scored four Championship goals this year. They've all come against Blackburn (three own-goals + this one) #Rovers

Shane Duffy's fourth goal against Blackburn this season. The other three he scored whilst playing FOR them.

Who remembers when @ShaneDuffy34 deleted his Twitter because he scored two own goals in the same game

Shane Duffy has scored four goals against Blackburn this season. And he was a Rovers player when three of them went in.

can't believe we scored two goals! Can't believe Shane Duffy didn't get an own goal!

If you still don't think that Shane Duffy is an absolute tosser after that goal celebration, then I don't hold too much hope for you. #BRFC

The Ireland defender, for what it's worth, was magnanimous in victory, even if his celebration was doubtless fuelled by similar jibes from Rovers fans all season.
Great win tonight delighted to get my first goal for Brighton ,good luck to Blackburn rest off the season, on to Saturday now @OfficialBHAFC

Duffy has taken like a duck to water at Brighton - indeed so much so that the Seagulls fans have in the past couple of weeks adopted an old Everton chant about Duffy (you might have even heard it in France during the Euros) and begun singing it in the terraces.
What a haunting sound this must have been for the Blackburn faithful at Ewood Park last night...
We're up all night for Shane Duffy
At the back he concedes none,
we bought him from Blackburn ,
he's in the crowd when we've won,
we're up all night for Shane Duffy.— David Evans (@DavidPorkyEvans) December 13, 2016

Good luck ridding your head of that tune today.
