It’s been the longest running football rumour of the year but today finally, we may see an end to the speculation over the future of Arsene Wenger.
All four corners of the globe seemed to have gotten involved as the infamous #Wengerout movement had taken the place of ‘Mayo 4 Sam’ once people realised holding a supportive placard on top of Machu Picchu was not going to help them win an All-Ireland anytime soon.

Like ‘Mayo 4 Sam’, the #Wengerout campaign will also have to wait to get what they want.
ESPN are reporting that today, Arsene Wenger will sign a 2-year extension onto his contract. Should he see out, it will take him to an incredible 23 years at the club.
Most surprising is the part of the report which states that, despite the intensity of the speculation of the past few months, Wenger has been sitting on this agreed contract since November last year.
So, after all of that, it seems all of the rumours were needless., the Sky Sports Yellow Ticker of Doom could have been completely avoided. (Or at least briefly suspended).
The news will probably do little to silence the supporters calling for his exit. Arsenal will face their first year without Champions League since he took the helm. But at least they won’t be going out to Bayern Munich.
One party who may be delighted is Arsenal Fan TV. They know they will never have a more contentious topic. What to do with a manager who many feel has been underachieving, but is also their most successful one?
