Arsène Wenger has responded to José Mourinho's charge that the Frenchman is a "specialist in failure".

Speaking after Arsenal's 2-1 FA Cup victory over Liverpool on Sunday, Wenger said "I do not want to go into that silly, disrespectful remark; I never spoke about him in my press conferences, and I will not start that, but it is more embarrassing for Chelsea than for me."

Mourinho added further fuel to the spat on Saturday, when he branded Wenger "Monsieur Polite" after Chelsea's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City. Still upset by Wenger's suggestion that Mourinho is playing down Chelsea's title chances because he is scared to fail, he said: "The only thing I feel is that I was very quiet, in my place, and somebody spoke not in a nice way about us." He added: "After that I don't accept that one is always Monsieur Polite and the other one is always the bad guy. I don't accept, I'm sorry."
