It was one of a number of tantalising subplots going into this weekend's Champions League final. However, the much anticipated Suarez vs Chiellini rematch is not going to happen after Juventus confirmed that the Italian defender would miss the game in Berlin through injury.

A scan on a calf injury picked up in training yesterday has not been positive and Massimiliano Allegri will now have to plot Barcelona's downfall without his towering centre back.
Whatever about the Suarez subplot, Chiellini's absence will certainly take away from the game as a spectacle. Juventus, like any time, were going to struggle against the holy trinity of Messi, Suarez and Neymar. However, without their first choice centre back, it's going to be even more difficult for the Old Lady.
