Wayne Rooney ousted Bobby Charlton as England's all-time top scorer with a dubiously awarded 84th minute penalty against Switzerland on Tuesday night.

The opportunity for Rooney to break the record came thanks to the Raheem Sterling. The Man City winger took advantage of a lazy Swiss leg to go down easily in the box.

Referee Gianluca Rocchi awarded England a penalty which was dispatched with power by the Man Utd player.

England won the game 2-0 with substitute Harry Kane opening the scoring in the 67th minute.
