Wayne Rooney has given 16-year-old American Idol contestant Kayden Stephenson the chance to see him play at Old Trafford against Real Madrid on March 5th. Rooney told Stephenson, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, that his story inspired him.
A childhood friend of Rooney, Stephen Johnson, who also suffered from cystic fibrosis died in September. In tribute to his friend he worse a black armbard during the League Cup game against Newcastle on September 28th.

I inspired Wayne Rooney because he had a friend who had cystic fibrosis and recently passed away at 25. So that's why he reached out to me.
