Wayne Rooney showed his elite mindset from an early age as he revealed an brutally honest admission from the start of his career at Everton.
Having burst on to the scene at Everton in 2002 as a 16-year-old, Wayne Rooney quickly became the star of English football after coming through the Everton academy, and scored an iconic goal to defeat Arsenal just days shy of his 17th birthday.
After impressing with Everton, Alex Ferguson spent £30 million to bring him to Manchester United, where he became an icon at the club, winning five Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup and four League Cups
As of now, he is currently England's all-time top goal scorer, but Harry Kane is closely behind him and will likely overtake his record soon.
Despite Wayne Rooney's remarkable achievements in his career, he has never forgot where he started out. Everton has always remained loyal to his heart, having had a second spell with his boyhood club when he left Manchester United in 2017.
Speaking on Everton TV, Wayne Rooney gave a two part interview on the start of his career, where he was the star of Everton at the young age of 17.
Rooney admitted it was a shock to go from the new kid on the block who just made his debut to a superstar, with a hilarious admission about his former teammates.

"It's mad how quick it changed. Like for me to go in with Duncan, Stubbsy, all of them who I grew up watching. To then go play with them, train with them everyday, and then so quickly think 'these are crap.'
Obviously not all of them, but some of the players, I thought lads what's going on here. I was just thinking we need to sign players, we need better players.
I think that's the fan coming out of you as well, I just couldn't believe how bad some of them were. I remember think I am better than all these players. That's not a disrespect to those players, but some of them weren't good enough and shouldn't have ever played for Everton."
While people may not appreciate Rooney's brutal honesty, it shows how he had an elite level mindset at such a young age.
Currently the manager of D.C United in America, if he can bring that winning mentality to his management career, he will be certain to create more historic achievements from the dugout.
