DC United beat Orlando City 3-2 in Wayne Rooney's sixth game for the club.
Luciaco Acosta scored the winner but it was all about the endeavour of Rooney.
The game tied at 2-2 in the 96th minute, DC sent Danish keeper David Ousted up for a corner in a desperate attempt to grab a winner. Orlando cleared the ball and momentarily it looked as though it was they who would take the points.
That was until Rooney intervened, chasing back to put in a last ditch tackle. Rooney's heroics did not end there. The 32-year-old carried the ball back into the Orlando half before launching a ball towards the back post.
Up leapt Acosta to meet Rooney's ball and score his third goal of the game.
