While you were tucked up in bed this morning, Andy Keogh was busy making history with Perth Glory in the Australian A-League. Keogh became the first player in A-League history to score in eight successive games.
Whereas many footballers often play down their desire to chase personal records, Keogh keenly chased the record, and held up seven fingers in celebration when he equalled the record in last weekend's victory over the artist formerly known as Emile Heskey's Newcastle Jets. Keogh said afterwards that "it’s nice to equal records, but I want to break it now and have it in my own right".
Now Keogh does have it to himself, after he netted in Perth Glory's 3-2 victory over Melbourne City. Here is the goal:
