Wayne Rooney's remarkable rise in the MLS continued today as the English striker scored an outstanding volley to give DC United the lead in New York.
At Everton, Rooney's career seemed to be dwindling towards its inevitable end until the 32-year-old took a bold move and opted to leave the Premier League for the American franchise. Since moving to the US, Rooney has spoken publicly on how "happy" he has become and that is evident in his football, as the striker is once again the star of at his club.
Playing against the New York Red Bulls, Rooney scored to make it 2-1 just after the hour mark.

There was plenty of late drama left. Bradley Wright-Phillips grabbed an equaliser for New York before Luciana Acosta restored DC's lead with two minutes left. However, a last-minute Wright-Phillips goal ensured the sides would finish all level at 3-3.
