You truly do have to feel sorry for Vincent Kompany, as the Man City captain's horrific luck with injuries has struck again and forced him to withdraw from the Champions League semi-final second leg.
Just eight minutes into the game, Kompany brought the ball into midfield and attempted to play a pass, but instead hit the deck immediately holding his leg, and while Ray Houghton initially suggested it looked like a groin injury, many people on social media expressed their belief that it was his calf injury rearing it's head again.
Kompany's reaction suggests that it is not just the remainder of Man City's season that could be in doubt, but also his appearance at Euro 2016.
While it is never enjoyable to see a player get injured, it is impossible to ignore that Kompany is Belgium's captain and his absence in France would surely be of benefit to Ireland.
However, considering the nightmare with injuries he has already endured this season, it is simply rotten luck and we wish Vincent Kompany all the best in his recovery.
His importance to Man City was also hammered home by Real Madrid taking the lead just minutes after the City captain left the pitch.
