Friday was an exciting day for Irish football supporters, with the announcement that 17-year old starlet Troy Parrott had been included in the senior squad for next months's fixtures against Switzerland and Bulgaria.
The Spurs man is an incredible prospect, and he certainly looks ready to make the step up. He put in a number of strong performances over pre-season against the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan. While you have to take games at that time of year with a pinch of salt, the signs were encouraging nonetheless.
As if the prospect of seeing him in an Ireland jersey wasn't tantalising enough already, he provided us with another reminder of his talents last night.
Parrott was part of the Spurs U23 side to take on Manchester City, and at 17-years old, he was one of the youngest players on the pitch. That didn't stop him however, as he popped up with this absolutely stunning strike to give his side the lead in the first half.

What a strike!
Parrott would add to his tally in the second half, converting from the penalty spot as Spurs secured a 3-1 victory.
Ireland have been crying out for a goalscorer ever since the retirement of Robbie Keane, and while it is too early to expect him to fill those sizeable boots, Parrott is on track to become a star.
He has everything you want to see from a forward in the modern game. He is quick, can dribble, is deceptively strong, and has a serious eye for goal.
Even if he doesn't feature next month's, we expect to see him lighting it up for Ireland sooner rather than later.
