Update: It appears as though there has been some confusion at Sky Sports and that was not in fact Trent Alexander-Arnold. Read more below.
Some very cool footage was played in the build-up to Liverpool vs Leeds on Sky Sports that made Jamie Carragher, as well as most watching from home, feel very, very old.
2009 may not feel like that long ago to some of us, but in the seven years since Leeds last travelled to Anfield a lot has changed. Jamie Carragher has retired and become a pundit, for one, but more relevant to tonight's meeting between the two clubs was the fact that Liverpool's starting defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was actually the mascot on that night.
Carragher, after commenting on how well he has aged, discussed why it's good to see players like Alexander-Arnold, who grew up within a stone's throw from Melwood, breaking into the first team.
That's pretty cool.
The young defender has impressed since being given a look at what it takes to be a first-team footballer at one of the biggest clubs in England, and his progress will be watched closely in the coming months.
But that was a nice moment before Tuesday night's EFL cup quarter-final.
UPDATE:
So... That wasn't Trent Alexander-Arnold. Admittedly we just took Sky Sports' word for it, but as many of our followers on twitter have pointed out, it's actually a different young lad that just looks a bit like TAA...
@ballsdotie just to follow up on your report on Trent Alexander Arnold https://t.co/l87SeomxOa

Someone at Sky Sports will have some very strange questions to answer we'd imagine, we apologise for the mistake and would again like to thank those who got in touch.https://www.balls.ie/football/watch-trent-alexander-arnold-mascot-carragher/353086
