Tim Sherwood was covering the Europa League for ITV on Thursday night, and it quickly became clear that he is a very, very big fan of Michael Carrick.
Despite not featuring as much as he would have liked under Mourinho thus far, Carrick was a controlling influence in midfield and set-up Manchester United's first goal with a majestic long ball to Juan Mata who was then fouled for a penalty.
Sherwood launched into a passionate spiel on how Michael Carrick should be starting for any team in the league, before explaining how the 35-year-old midfielder fits perfectly into Pep Guardiola's system.
Not content to leave it there, Sherwood then claimed that if Mourinho doesn't give Carrick more game time, then City will make a move to sign him in January.
Does Tim know something there? Has he become a transfer ITK?
You've got to admit that Carrick is a player who would tick all the boxes, and with Frank Lampard last year Man City have proven that they are willing to give veteran players a chance... But surely this won't happen?
Carrick has established a great relationship with Manchester United fans down the years, and him leaving for City is vastly different to someone like Lampard doing the same.
Sherwood's passion for football is unrelenting, but has he just gone over the top on the lack of game-time for Carrick, or has he heard something in the grapevine?
