If you, as an Irish fan, are currently in the depths of desolate despair following the 3-0 defeat to Belgium, spare a thought for our Swedish brethren. Having clung on manfully against Italy (admittedly once again registering zero shots on target), a slip by central defender Andreas Granqvist showed Eder a clear path to goal in the dying minutes which he made the most of, leaving Swedish fans flatter than their furniture. (You're fired - Ed).
Irish fans had least had the abject relief of knowing the result of their game from the 60th minute, whereas Swedish fans had their nerves shredded until the final moments. Such a wrenching defeat was all too much for this fan, who less Swede and more sour in the aftermath, denouncing Granqvist with the wild and inconsistent fury of a spurned lover.

The fan ultimately needed a hug from the presenter to alleviate his anguish. We write that for the Liverpool fans who switched off in anger at the questioning as to whether a player was capable of slipping in such an important situation.
