No matter what happens on the field between now and the 10th of July, from an Irish point of view, the image of those Irish fans cleaning up after themselves in a square in Bordeaux will go down as one of the most memorable images of Euro 2016.
We've already addressed the embarrassing vs hilarious debate so we'll leave that alone. Instead, we simply have to commend the dedication of Irish fans to ensuring everyone who's left at home knows how much they're enjoying themselves. News of the clean up operation obviously spread quickly through the streets of Bordeaux last night because after the clean up operation outside the Connemara Bar, it was time for some heavy duty cleaning.
The 'your mother'll be proud' at the start of that really makes it. In truth, it's probably entirely dependent on where he managed to get that hoover from as to whether his mother will be proud or not, but let's not ask such difficult questions. A public service such as this such be lauded no matter what. And to be fair, according to Kev Kelly who provided the video, it was legally obtained from outside an apartment and returned after the streets of Bordeaux were spotlessly clean.
