Last month, we got excited about the news that a documentary called Finding Jack Charlton would be coming out this autumn and, judging by the new trailer for the film, it will not disappoint!
Directed by Gabriel Clarke (Bobby Robson: More Than A Manager; Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans) and Pete Thomas (Adam Hills: Take His Legs), the documentary comes from renowned sports filmmakers Noah Movie Group. It was filmed over the last 18 months of Jack's life as he battled with dementia, yet its message is an uplifting one.
Numerous well-known faces feature, as we're taken to an era where Jack transformed Irish football. The documentary's makers describes it as "the definitive portrait of an extraordinary man."
The documentary features key characters from throughout Jack’s career, including major figures in football, music, film, politics, and, for the first time, Jack’s family. These personal perspectives, along with previously unseen archive, are an intimate window into Jack’s charismatic personality, his managerial philosophy and offer a new level of understanding into Finding Jack Charlton.
Jack's wife, Pat, and son, John, also feature in the film, which has been described by The Times' chief sports writer Henry Winter as "Gripping." "heart-breaking," and "inspirational."
It will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 6 November, and is available to preorder now, from the findingjackcharlton.com website, ahead of its release on DVD and Digital on 23 November. The film will also be broadcast on Virgin Media Ireland and BBC Two, with airing dates yet to be announced.
