The European Championships have entered their second day, meaning RTE have had to begin wheeling out the second-string commentary teams. The opening game was given to George and Ronnie Whelan, meaning that Stephen Alkin and Brian Kerr were in attendance for this afternoon's tie between Albania and Switzerland.
Kerr's commentary is absolutely superb; his idiosyncrasies and colloquialisms are often more engaging than the game itself. It is a terrible thing to be predictable, and that is exactly what Kerr is not.
Kerr's unique brand of commentary was on display in all of its glory during the second half of the Swiss/Albanian fixture. Valon Behrami galloped through a hole in the Albanian midfield, and an opponent decided that the only way to stop him was to get to grips with his shorts. This led Kerr to shoot from the hip, as only he can:
Oh Holy God, Brian Kerr on underpants. #RTEsoccer #ALBvSUI pic.twitter.com/83lQ7840IO

We are not the only viewers extremely fond of Kerr:

It's *definitely* a foul if it's getting a "Oh, Holy God" out of Brian Kerr #alb #sui #euro2016

In fairness to Kerr, he is also extremely intelligent and incisive as well. But damn, he's entertaining to boot.
