Look, being a football pundit is not easy, we accept that.

You have to give your opinion on live TV and always risk being made to look a bit daft by a sport that by its very nature is unpredictable and constantly offering up surprises...

That said, Craig Bellamy, your boys took a hell of a beating tonight. The former Newcastle and Man City striker's pre-match prediction on Sky Sports was just a tad too smug for us, as he explained why he didn't fear the Irish players.

Aside from saying "Good luck" to the thought of Ireland getting any joy on the counter-attack - when Ireland's goal would later come from a counter - he also claimed that the Welsh players were better than the Irish players as if it was fact.

Of course [Harry Arter] is going to say that the Irish players are better... No. No they are not. Not as good as Wales. They 'aint. We have better players.

So that really fills me with confidence.

We're not trying to claim that Ireland are man-for-man a better team than Wales, we know that they have players who would walk into our team, but Craig, we're not letting you away with that.

Those 'better players' didn't look the part, and that confidence was misplaced, a reminder that you should always be careful when on live TV for a big match because football fans don't forget.

Good luck.
