Rangers went into today's Old Firm six points behind Celtic having played an extra game. Not that the game needed it, but a win would all but secure the SPL trophy for Celtic and added an additional layer to the extraordinary rivalry between the clubs.
After a thoroughly enjoyable opening hour that saw the sides tied 2-2, Celtic were reduced to ten men as Jozo Šimunović was shown a straight red for an elbow.
It was a silly foul as much as anything, especially after Celtic had done so well to twice bring themselves back into the game. Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele both scored in the first half after the league leaders went behind twice.
The incident proved highly contentious online.

Oh wow. Red card on Celtic for deliberate elbow to the jaw. A little harsh and almost a shame for how this game has been going.

However, Celtic overcame the blow to land a superb goal thanks to Odsonne Edouard, who is on loan from PSG.
