Touch. Finish. Arms out wide celebration. The anatomy of a Shane Long goal.
Just seconds after Liverpool had a penalty shout turned down, Southampton pounced on the counter and Ireland's Shane Long sent Claude Puel's men into the final with a 1-0 win on the night, 2-0 on aggregate.
Divock Origi went down in the Southampton area under a challenge from Jack Stephens (although the replay suggested the referee got it right) but when the corner that was awarded came to nothing, the counter-attack was swift.
After Shane Long burst his bollocks to get into a position to get a shot off, he found the back of the net and the tie was over.
What a run!
The finish was well taken, and the celebration was fantastic to see. Congratulations to Claude Puel and Southampton for reaching the EFL Cup final.
