Preston are on the up! Seani Maguire was amongst the goals once again today, as he snatched a late, late winner for his side against Birmingham City this afternoon.
The result brings Preston to seventh place in the Championship table, level on points with Aston Villa in sixth. It is worth noting, however, that Bristol City and Derby County, who sit directly below them in the table, have games in hand.
With the match at Deepdale deadlocked at 0-0 deep into injury time, Maguire rose highest in the penalty to area to nod the ball home and give his side the win.

It was his third goal in since the middle of February, with the former Cork City striker hitting form just before the international break. He is contention for a starting place under Mick McCarthy for the upcoming Euro 2020 Qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia.
McCarthy recently spoke highly of the Preston man, telling the FAI website:
Sean’s movement today was exceptional and his finish for the goal was different class.
His play as the lone striker was excellent. He got in behind the Millwall defence, he ran the channels and he put in a great shift capped by that finish for the third Preston goal.
It seemed like the Preston fans were singing about Sean throughout the game and it was easy to see why.
