Holy shit, Scotland vs England escalated quickly.

Leigh Griffiths was so close to forever etching his name into Scottish football history as he hit two free-kicks in two minutes to turn Scotland's match with England on it's head.

The wee Celtic striker has faced a lot of criticism for his performances in a Scotland shirt and was out of favour with Gordon Strachan for a long time... But he delivered, in style, and what a stage to do it on!

Scotland battened down the hatches and played some very defensive football until Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looked to have broken their hearts with 20 minutes to play, and although England were not playing their best football they were looking comfortable as Scotland struggled to create.

But then... In the 86th minute, Griffiths stepped up to the plate after a free-kick was awarded:

And then two minutes later, he was presented a very similar opportunity...

Incredible scenes, and Scotland looked to be on their way to an historic win.. Until Harry Kane popped up to break their hearts.

Shocking defending, but a composed finish.

Wow, what a finish!

It's crushing for Scotland, but in reality it would have been very harsh on England, and a draw is still a positive result all things considered.

But they were so close. So. Close. Still, a Scotland vs England clash that will stay in the memory for quite some time.
