Roy Keane praised Martin O'Neill and Ireland's players for overcoming the usual speed-bumps in European qualification and booking their place in France next summer.
Speaking to fellow Corkonian Tony O'Donoghue, Keane gave 'all credit' to the players, saying they had "done the country proud."
He also chuckled at O'Donoghue's suggestions that Ireland wouldn't want to go to Euro 2016 'to make up the numbers' - an allusion to comments Keane made in 2012 where he criticised Ireland's lack of ambition at major tournaments - saying:
As long as we're not in Saipan we'll be alright.
