Ronaldinho made his comeback to football last night in a one-night-only performance for Barcelona de Ecuador, and was visibly touched by the rousing standing ovation that he received from a stadium full of adoring fans.
While the legendary Brazilian only signed a one-match contract with the club to play in an exhibition match against San Martin, he has already confirmed that he will not be retiring and will look for a new club once he is done having the craic at Carnival.
That's seriously what he said, via FourFourTwo:
I still won't [retire]. I'm going to play a little bit more. It's good to receive this affection [from the fans], so I'm very happy. I will continue trying to reciprocate the affection they give me in the best possible way.
There are many things to come in 2016. After Carnaval we will see what I do.
Apparently his deal with the Ecuadorian Barca is also somewhat of a trial, with the decision to join the club on a longer deal down to the man himself, and if that is the case then the fans in the stadium did their best to persuade Ronaldinho to stay with one hell of an ovation:
But the best moment from the match took place earlier, when a starstruck referee asked the two-time Ballon D'Or winner to sign his yellow card.
