Well, that was an FA Cup 3rd round tie that would reluctantly make you toss about well-worn cliches about the "magic of the cup."
While Nottingham Forest are no minnow, there was something particularly memorable about seeing this mid-table Championship club knock out the holders, Arsenal.
2-1 ahead at half-time, 4-2 ahead 45 minutes later, Forest were well worth their priceless victory. Sitting the stands while he serves a three-game ban, Arsene Wenger may have had reason to question his decision to leave so many key names back in North London.
However, with a host of Premier League regulars and a World Cup winner in their starting line up, this was by no means a result they handed to their determined hosts.
Going in at half-time ahead due to Eric Lichaj's absolute wonder-strike, it was during the second-half that this really started to look like a 3rd round classic.
Through the 18-year old Ben Brereton, Forest made is 3-1 thanks to a penalty that betrayed his years in terms of his confident finish. Shortly thereafter though, Danny Welbeck made up some of Arsenal's lost ground and reduced the deficit to just one.
With all signs pointing to an Arsenal equaliser, it was Forest who got the next break - another penalty, this time thanks to some outrageously cavalier defending from Mathieu Debuchy. Better than any subsequent description though, allow Robbie Savage carry you through the moment as Forest fans delight in what now looks like a certain win.
As incident-upon-incident unfolded before his and Darren Fletcher's eyes, a match like this is exactly what Robbie Savage is for.
Wow what a game , forest magnificent ! @btsport

Between answering every question Fletcher asked him with the same question, or trying to stifle laughs at the sheer craziness of what was occurring at the City Ground, it was a reaction that was not lost on many of those watching - even if not always warmly received.
Great game. Penalties, red cards, controversies, cup drama. Robbie Savage watching 6 replays of a penalty clearly hitting both feet with impossible spin without a double touch and still claiming it was the right decision, was when it peaked though

Hopeless coverage of a cracker. BT too busy helping Robbie Savage to count to two they’ve missed a red card.

Robbie Savage banging on about Debuchy winning the ball. He did - after taking the man. You can attack an opponent with an axe and then take the ball. It doesn’t mean it’s not a foul.

It was rather unfortunate that Robbie Savage had to be commentating during what was otherwise, a great game of football. #FACup

And I thought no one could be worse than Adrian Chiles talking about a football match.
But listening to Robbie Savage in this game, has proved me wrong.— Glenn Clarke 🔴🟢⚪ (@ClarkeGlenn) January 7, 2018
Don't listen to them Robbie.
