Today was a very good day for former League of Ireland players playing in the EFL, as not only did Sean Maguire get his first league goal in England, but Richie Towell also got off the mark for his new club in dramatic fashion.
On Thursday, Towell was speaking to Rotherham's club website after making his debut as a substitute against Portsmouth, and he outlined that he knew it wasn't going to be easy to break into the team, and that when his chance came he was going to have to take it.
Introduced as a first-half substitute for the injured Shaun Cummings, Towell got his chance to make an impression and with the game in the balance at 2-2 in injury time, he took it with both hands.
A lovely finish, hopefully this is a sign of things to come and Towell can show what he is capable of in League One.
Brighton will have a keen eye on his progress as they offered him a new deal last season, but really the most important thing for Towell is minutes on the pitch this year after a frustrating time in England thus far.
He's a hit with the fans already, so we look forward to seeing more Richie Towell highlights in the coming weeks.
