After a frustrating 90 minutes that ended with a 0-0 scoreline and a point for both Ireland and Wales, Richie Sadlier and Eamon Dunphy had a disagreement in the RTÉ studio.
After both men condemned Neil Taylor for his shocking challenge on Seamus Coleman, with Dunphy calling the challenge sickening, and Sadlier claiming that it was unjustifiable, the question of Ireland's discipline in the match was the cause of the disagreement.
Sadlier was arguing that Ireland's involvement in a number of incidents, particularly in the first half, showed a lack of discipline, but Dunphy was adamant that it did not. Dunphy believed that O'Neill set his men out to execute a gameplan, and called it a superb performance, and so the definition of discipline was brought up and discussed.
They kind of agreed on everything... Apart from the word discipline. Odd.
It's rare to see Dunphy so positive about an Irish performance, so perhaps that threw Sadlier off, but neither men were taking a backwards step in the discussion.
You'd sympathise with Sadlier though, the incidents are indeed 'part of the modern game', but they also show a lack of discipline. And, of course, for poor Liam Brady in the middle of it all.
