Richard Keogh's Derby County defeated fellow promotion hopefuls Aston Villa 2-0 in Saturday's Sky Bet Championship crunch clash at Pride Park Stadium.
Andreas Weimann scored against his former club to put the Rams in front during the first half and substitute Johnny Russell sealed all three points in stoppage time to consolidate the fourth place position and go four points clear of Aston Villa in fifth place.
However Keogh stole the show for the Ram's this afternoon, awarded man of the match, the defender cleared a shot off the line early in the second half to keep his side in front before setting up Russell in injury time to secure a vital three points.
Little over two months have passed since the imperious Keogh channelled his inner Gerard Pique assisting David Nugent with a delightful pass to curl in the top corner in Derby's 2-1 victory over Norwich, and the defender repeated his feat this afternoon with a a defence-splitting pass to find Russell, who took a touch before coolly sliding the ball under the advancing Villa goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone.
