We've seen it all before with ball boys - or at least we thought we had.

Remember the young lad in the Stamford Bridge tunnel who earned a playful if firm tap on the face from a clearly despondent Steven Gerrard? Or the boy at Swansea's Liberty Stadium who took a few swipes to the midriff from an impatient Eden Hazard?

Of course, there have been feigned handshakes, hugs and a lot of hair-rubbing, but never before have we seen such an incredibly brazen effort by a ball boy as we witnessed at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais during Portugal's 2-0 defeat of Wales on Wednesday evening.

Now, we know Cristiano Ronaldo has other-worldly - and frankly admirable - patience when it comes to over-zealous fans looking for selfies with him, be it before or after games, but even he had to laugh at the antics of one conspicuous admirer prior to his side's Euros semi triumph.

Not just a selfie. Oh, no. This youngfella came back for more. And Ronnie couldn't help but have a chuckle, in fairness to him.

The selfie clearly meant a lot to the suspiciously old-looking ball boy (a relative of Renato Sanches, perhaps?), but you know what they say about the selfie generation; they're never truly satisfied.

Ronaldo might occasionally act the berk between kick-off and the full-time whistle, but it can't be denied that the Real Madrid and Portugal icon is a thoroughly sound bloke. He made another kid's life tonight.
