No matter what your opinion of VAR is, you have to admit that it does add plenty of drama to the game.
The way it has been used in the Premier League is questionable. Every week there seems to be obvious decisions that are not given, with the threshold for intervention from the extra official set ridiculously high.
It is something the authorities could look at after the season, but for now we continue to revel in the drama that it brings. There was a perfect example of that rollercoaster of emotions on Sky Sports this afternoon.
Phil Thompson was in the Soccer Saturday studio to analyse the Spurs-Watford game, when Dele Alli appeared to equalise for the home side late on. However, the goal would be reviewed by VAR for a potential handball.
At first it seemed the goal had been disallowed, then like it was given, only for the big screen in the ground to read 'no goal'. It was all a bit much for Thompson:
Goal!? ⚽
No goal?! ❌
Chris Kavanagh and VAR have everyone confused at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Dele Alli equalizes for the hosts...eventually! 🙄 pic.twitter.com/199C33w7ia— Soccer Saturday (@SoccerSaturday) October 19, 2019

Brilliant. The goal would stand in the end, with Spurs managing to get a point. Not a great result when you consider Watford's form this season.
