There's no sugar-coating it, Manchester United were shite at Anfield as they were beaten 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The final result could have been five or six-nil, but David De Gea spared Louis Van Gaal further embarrassment with a string of impressive saves, and the post-mortem in the BT studio from Scholes and Ferdinand was seriously bleak, as was to be expected.
But Scholes, while expressing how upset he was with the current state of United, couldn't resist a dig at Arsenal as he claimed that being happy with 4th place and the FA Cup is something that could 'never happen' at Old Trafford.
Out of nowhere.
What he's trying to express was his desire to see United compete for the Premier League and Champions League every season, but instead it sounded like a pop at Arsenal, which of course it could have been as well as Scholes played in Manchester United teams that really didn't like the Gunners.
